Hoya, everyone.
Had another blog right before this but decided that one'd be for introvert, strange, fantastic writing and this one would be for a more or less accurate description of What is Going On in Akita International University. More specifically, what is happening around me. Me me me.
So. I am a student of the Japanese language. I've studied this so-called language for one year and a half, and am now studying it where it is supposed to be studied - in Japan. Akita, northern Honshu.
I was not chosen among the Lucky Ones to go to Kansai Gaidai this spring and get everything for free. Oh no, because the Dear Teachers did not send all of us who wanted to go this year. No, as an EXCUSE because last years students did So Badly, me and one other student - the only two who were left behind, the two that wanted to go the most, the two who wanted to get a fscking degree in Japanese, and the two with the previous most travelling experience ergo most "spiritually mature", an important thing for the Japanese apparently - were excluded.
Well. Fsck that, we said. And got ourselves into another university instead. Bad Thing: Paying every speck of money by ourselves and ending up with loans we won't be able to pay back until we're 60. Good Thing(s): No "30 degrees Celsius and 120% humidity" in summer. A new university that is probably going to be one of the most famous and prestigious ones in the country. An internationally oriented university where we get treated fantastically well and can practice both English and Japanese. Etcetera.
I'd go for Akita, ne?
So, it's a bit inaka (in the countryside). I haven't been to Aktia city yet. The shopping mall to which the university provides free buses are gargantuan. People want to touch my hair to see that it is real (I'm blonde, a minority...). They serve noodles as at least one of three dishes every lunch and dinner. One of my books cost a blasted $140. And the Japanese women do giggle. A lot. In concert. Together with the Chinese, they can make a +9 Giggle Attack. Blows your eardrums out if executed right beside you.
BUT I'm in Japan, the place where "we all dreamed to go" back in my message board days (during that fantastic, exhilarating, one-time FF7-hype). And I actually know the language.
Yeah, the coolness factor will eventually rule over my current "GodsIhatethisfsckingplace"-mood.
Yup. That's a little background. Now for some news.
