Borderland

Today my voice did not cooperate again. But it was better. And my coughing has entered the next stage.

Only me and Burtuu went to the "Green Festival in Yuwa". It wasn't a festival though, and we'd walked through the area, seeing everything and smelling all the flowers being sold in thirty minutes. When we sat down, I felt something at my back, in my waist. It provoked a mild reaction and I turned to see what it was. An obaasan, touching my hair.
That is strike one for "people touching you without asking". Concerning foreigners, there ARE no manners. Believe me. Staring, impolite? No. Touching to see if hair/skin etc is real, impolite? No. Not. Concerning. Gaijin.
And I have sobered a little. Remember, your books are most probably written in English, right? Yep. That is, by Americans for American students. Swedes are allegedly more polite than Americans. And much of what you read is highlighted and exaggerated. Not blowing your nose in public? People do, but definitely not while talking to others, in crowded areas or at the table. Talking down your gifts? At least not in Akita, it seems. If it is of no concern, why would you give it to someone. And so on.

But. Back to topic. We were getting desperate and prepared to walk back - the bus would pick us up at two in the afternoon, and it was just turning twelve! But! To our luck, we ran into Cunningham-sensee, who lives just beside the parking lot. He was going to the school anyway, and a pleasant time began. He took us sightseeing, yatta!
The nature here is beautiful. There are still traditional houses, still inhabitet, still taken care of. The valleys are beautiful, the roads are not much travelled. Oh, how I was filled with new energy.
Also, Cunningham-sensee took us to a sort of scenic spot. You could see all the way to the borders of the prefecture! To the mountains in the north and the south and the east, and the mountains preceding the sea. And to Ooga. Oh, it was amazing! The forests, the nature. And the stupid, tempting airport. We did see all the way to Aeon and Akita, too, but that was hardly interesting.
And he told us so much about the nature and things around campus. Oh, I grew angry and irritated and I am so going to write a paper about what to do outside campus! Since there is none, no one knows about anything, and no new students have anywhere to go to ask! A few of the teachers who have been living here for a while know, and I am sure they will help me. Hah! AIU is only one year old, but it is time to help them with some things OTHER than just study and school and blah blah.

Went to Aeon and bought food and a pair of cartire-sandals. A little above 3000Y, suits me fine. And number 5 and 6 of "Othello", argh, so exciting! Must not look 6 through before having read 4 and 5! And a 7 is on the way, yay.

Feel terribly elfy *slow smile*.

Outsider. And I like it. I did not join the barbecue party. Of course! Didn't have anything to bring, and anyway - thank you Shogo, but... it did really not feel like I was intended to come. I prefer my loneliness. I really do.

Watched the first hour or two of "Braveheart". Hm, have finally gotten longer than ever before. Let us see if I manage to finish it this time, hm?

Hiroshi had CUT HIS HAIR. Argh. It does not look even half as good. Stupid boy. Now I am not sure I can ship you to Naisho with good conscience anymore. Haven't had chance to talk to him, but with the mood I am in I don't even want to. I just want, of all the people in the world, my wolf. Or maybe mom. But I know that is just a romantic illusion.
Wolfie, thank you for all your kind words. For your presence. And just for being. Truly...
"...perfect."

Have had too little nerdity here. Here goes one of my favourite quotes of late. You know I love quotes, so...:

You accuse me of being a madman.
What right have you to judge what is sane and what is not?
I have fought with the shadows on the edge of your vision.
I have seen the faces that laugh at you in your nightmares.
I have felt the foetid breath that issues from the mouth of hell itself.
I have heard the silent voices that make your spine tingle with derad.
I have entered the realm between worlds where there is no time or place.
I have clashed with creatures the sight of which would sear your soul to the core.
I have bested horrors that chill with a gaze and tempt unreasoning terror.
I have faced death eye to eye and blade to blade.
I have stared into the eyes of insanity and met their all consuming stare.
I have done all this for you; for your protection and a guarantee of a future for mankind.
And yet you accuse me of being a madman, you who have never had your sanity tested so sorely.
What right have you to call me a heretic and a blasphemer, who have not heard the whisper of dark gods in your ear?
You are weak. Vulnerable. Human in your frailty. I am strong and yet still you judge me.
And yet you still judge me for my sins, you who art most sinful at heart?
Only the insane have strength enough to prosper; only those that prosper truly judge what is sane.

*LUB LUB!!!*
