Nómë

Nómë means "place", as in sinómë "this place" and nómessë "place-name".

A challenge, if people find it interesting.
Five things that are most definitely part of you, but which sometimes earn you derision or laughter - even from your friends, and I don't mean the kind type of laughter, either.
Next time they laugh, have them name five things about you that they admire, or think are good!
You're much allowed to explain why you feel they're you, or why you feel good about them. Be proud, humans and gentlefae. And others.

Mine, then. In no particular order, at all:
1. I love Jareth the Goblin King from "Labyrinth". Yes, the tight-pantsed one. Not particularily the tight pants, mind you, but still. I do, it's just a great character and his looks... Oh my. Le melt. Looks, and that voice - "How do you like my Labyrinth, Sarah?" The hair. The flair. The eyes. The cheekbones. The very feeling of it all - it makes me go fae. The hair... the look in his eyes...

2. I geek out at W40K fluff. Totally geek out. Loose concept of time and space, become engrossed and find it incredibly fascinating. Who cares about the numbers and the little tin men (which are fun to paint though, mind you!), it's the story that matters... And I can ramble about it for hours. I love finding another nerd on the matter. I can wax lyrically about the differences in fluff since Rogue Trader, and I always look for new knowledge. I'm geeky enough about it that people sometimes frown at my enthusiasm (which is the wrong thing to do, by the way, just tell me you aren't particularily interested).

3. Girls. Women. I'm so not straight. But I'm not gay either. I'm definitely bi, which makes me a traitor to both, in many's eyes, and gives me a whole lot of trouble sometimes. I could go for a guy, I could go for a girl. Sexual attraction as well as love, there's no limit concering gender. Oh, and shemales, transvestites, mtf, ftm and such are no problem either. Ah, love... And I tend not to forget them, either. Sunshine... I miss you.

4. Opinion of the moment. Yeah, I say "I hate it!" and I mean it. I say "I like that!" and I mean it. At that very moment, I very much mean it. However, it doesn't mean I didn't think it through, or can think differently in a few minutes, or see the other side of things. And so on. I KNOW there are other opinions. I know there are differing opinions, often, I even know what they are. So why is it so hard for people to understand that while I mean what I say, I'm not stubborn and narrowminded?

5. I don't like it when people touch my ears, the upper parts thereof. It feels awful. There's something wrong with them, and it's that they are, bleagh, rounded. Look rounded. This is a physical dislike, as much as a mental. ...hey, people are allowed (at least by those with sense) to feel they have the wrong gender, par example, so why not let me feel like this? Connected to this is my firm belief in fae, supernatural things, that dreams are important and "common sense" and science can be incredibly deadening for a person. I've got wings, as well, you may not see them, most of you, but me and faun, we know. So yeah, that's the last of the five - I've always, and I mean as far back as I can remember, wanted to be something else, no, felt that I was, even - the pointy ears are very much a physical representation thereof.

...I'm sure I had some better ideas in mind when I started writing this. Why didn't I write them all down at that time? Hah, that's me for you!
